Blind Students of Nethra Emerge as the Champions at National Level Cricket Tournament

Vishakapatnam  Cricket Association for Blind conducted the final match between Andhra Pradesh and  Karnataka. The inter state cricket match was played at  Sadhana playgrounds, Simhadri  NTPC Deepanjalinagar, on April 12th 2016.
The  Andhra team won the toss and  choose to bat against Karnataka. In a swooping  win,the  Andhra team emerged victorious by making 142 runs in 20 overs. The Karnataka  team while batting, managed to make 107 runs and lost the friendly match to its neighboring state.

P. Ganesh and Ram Prasad, proud 10th grade students of Nethra Vidyalaya Varija along with Avala Ganesh from 9th grade, Mr.  Baskar their Braille teacher & PET played the cricket match against the Karnataka state team and emerged as victorious champions. The students and teachers who participated in the State level championship trophy, had been practicing very hard. Their hard work paid off an their efforts were fruitful, when they won the match and were awarded the champions trophy.

MLA Bandaru Sathyanarayana Murthy, Simhadri GGM, P. K. Bondriiya awarded the trophy to  the Andhra winning team and congratulated the students on their striking victory. The chief guests, participants, audience  and parents  were all seen enjoying the match, encouraging the players and congratulating the Nethra Vidyalaya Varija cricket team on their win.
The visually challenged and blind students who study at Nethra Vidyalaya school, junior and degree college are either 70% and above or completely blind.
The young and talented students of Nethra thanked their coach and teachers and dedicated the award to their fellow students and HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji for their support and encouragement.
