8th Annual Celebrations of Nethra Vidyalaya College for Blind

On 30-08-2015 our Nethra Vidyalaya celebrated its 8th Anniversary in JIVA campus. The Nethra students lit up the auditorium with infectious smiles and colorful clothes. Staff and students welcomed the guests and audience to join them in the celebrations.

The program started at 10 am with auspicious lighting of the lamp by HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, HH Ahobila Jeeyar Swamiji, HH Devanattha Jeeyar Swamiji and guest of honor Sriman Juapally Krishna Rao, Hon Minister of Industries along with other dignitaries. Blind students of Nethra sang Vandematharam followed by prayer.

Ex student Thulasi wrote a beautiful welcome song. Ms. Bhavani and her group from degree college sang the song melodiously. The students danced and showed proudly that though they have some limitations due to their eyesight, they can still dance without any reservations. Members of the audience were awestruck seeing the beautiful dance of the students performed without any missteps or help.

Next, Ms. Tejovathi gave the annual school report followed by a performance by blind students who sang melodious songs in 8 different languages. They gave a message conveying that language is never a barrier in our country and that we all stay together and stand united with  feeling of brotherhood.

Students shared their personal experiences with the audience about how they learned a lot in Nethra Vidyalaya and showed their gratitude. Blind student, Ms. Bhavani explained how even though she is visually handicapped, she is the only one in her family to receive higher education. Ms. Deepthi explained how she was a normal child till 8th grade and suddenly lost her eyesight due to Glucoma. When she was lost eyesight, Nethra Vidyala helped her rehabilitate and become independent and mentally strong. Today she is proud that she can, once again, do any activity a normal person would do.

Two students from Nethra Alumni also shared how Nethra Vidyalaya made them self sufficient and how they are now able to work outside, have a day job  as well as manage their household efficiently and independently.

The cultural program concluded with a sensational dance performance by Nethra boys where they beautifully choreographed the message that everything should be offered to Lord Krishna. Later the dignitaries were invited to the stage. They spoke inspiring words and advised the students to be confident as that is the key to achieve goals.

HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji reiterated the importance of serving the society. HH gave mangalasasanams to the principal, the teachers and staff, Krishna Kumariji for coordinating the program, and donors for supporting the cause. The program concluded with prize distribution to academic toppers followed by National Anthem. Later, HH handed over mementos to the donors and the program ended with a photo session.
