Odaboyina Jagan:  My life journey from a poor boy with visual impairments to the Best Athlete of the State in 2017

Great News! Nethra students selected for International Para Games 2019Jagan’s story is purely plot out of success novel. Born to a toddy tapping labourer, Nagesh and mother Parvathi, Jagan’s world came crashing down when he found himself blind after a plunging pain in eyes. When his family was distraught and apprehensive about his future, Netra Vidyalaya came as a ray of hope to his eyes. The school took him with open arms and helped him in discovering his flair for running. With constant coaching from his beloved teachers and blessings from elders, He finds himself fortunate to participate in para Olympics and win 1 gold and 1 silver medals and got selected as the best athlete of Andhra Pradesh in 2017. He also won prize in NATMO Braille map quiz from Dehradun Governor and was part of the team which stood as South Zone Cricket Tournament Champions. He attributes this success to beloved Swamiji and all those who are donating for the cause. He may have lost eye sight, but he still has the vision and hopes to be self sufficient and give back to his parents, school and country.

We will soon add each participants story to this space, stay tuned !

Nethra Vidyalaya founder Sri HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji lauded the spirit and prowess of the champions mentioning that we will have a celebration program on April 27th in Vizag to honor them.
